In this shot, the shaft is in place and is hitting the tip of the nosecone.

Cutting the length of shaft is a bit of trial and error.  It has to be long enough
to keep the film cannister from moving forward into the NC when the deployment
charge is fired.  The shaft really only acts as a stop for the film can.
